Newcomers

We provide settlement services to support newcomers during their initial transition in British Columbia, helping families become independent and confident in their new life in Canada.

Our programs are available in English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Wolof to ensure accessibility for diverse communities. Registration and membership are required to access settlement programs, with the first year of membership offered free to all settlement participants. Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where newcomers can thrive.

Information and Orientation

Our information and orientation services are here to guide and support eligible newcomers as they begin their journey in Canada. We provide clear, timely, and accurate information to help individuals and families make informed decisions about their settlement. Whether it’s one-on-one sessions, family consultations, or group workshops, we tailor our support to meet your unique needs and the realities of your local community.

Our services include providing information and referrals to a wide range of community resources, as well as guidance on important topics such as health care, the legal system, education, employment, finances, housing, and child care. We also assist with filling out forms and applications to ensure access to essential services and opportunities.

Community Connections

Our Community Connections services focus on helping newcomers feel at home by fostering meaningful relationships and building bridges with Indigenous Peoples, long-time Canadians, and established immigrants. We believe connection is at the heart of settlement, so we bring people together through shared experiences and cultural exchange, often through our Multicultural Cooking Club events and Holiday Markets. These engaging activities help newcomers gain confidence navigating life in Canada, build supportive local networks, strengthen soft skills, and work toward personal goals.

Additionally, we facilitate leadership workshops and short-term life skills programs that provide in-depth support in key areas such as parenting, women's support, computer literacy, and anti-discrimination training.

Our Newcomers Programs

Anti-Racism Dialogues and Workshops

Our Anti-Racism Dialogues and Workshops create safe spaces for open, honest conversations about racism, discrimination, and inclusion. These sessions aim to raise awareness, challenge biases, and empower participants with tools to foster respect and equity within their communities.

Through interactive discussions and activities, we work together to build understanding and promote a more inclusive society.
