Our Older Adults (55+) and Seniors programs, including our Better At Home services, are thoughtfully designed to enrich lives, support independence, and foster connection, because aging well means staying engaged, active, and valued in your community.

From social gatherings and cultural celebrations to wellness activities, learning opportunities, and practical supports, we offer a range of services that reflect the diverse interests and needs of adults aged 55+.

Thanks to the generous support of our funders and community partners, all programs are free, low-cost, or subsidized, ensuring accessibility for everyone.

Whether you’re looking to meet new people, learn something new, or simply share a laugh over a cup of tea, we welcome you with open arms.

Our Older Adults (55+) and Seniors Programs

Chair Yoga (Hybrid Session)

Led by a friendly peer volunteer, this class offers seated and supported yoga poses that improve flexibility, balance, and well-being. Whether you choose to join us in person at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House or online from the comfort of your home, you’ll find a welcoming space to move, relax, and connect. All levels welcome. Registration is required.

Date/s: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month

Chinese Seniors Choir

This welcoming group brings together Mandarin-speaking older adults (55+), many of whom are newcomers to Canada, to share in the joy of music and cultural connection.

With the guidance of two dedicated volunteers, the choir is more than just a music group, it’s a weekly gathering that uplifts the spirit and strengthens community ties.

Choose To Move

Choose to Move is a free, flexible 12-week program designed to help you get moving in ways that work for you. Whether you're just starting out or getting back into a routine, this program offers the motivation, tools, and support you need to build healthy habits that last.

With one-to-one coaching and regular group sessions, you'll create a personalized action plan based on the activities you enjoy—walking, stretching, dancing, or anything that gets you moving.

English Conversation Circle (for Seniors)

Are you an older adult 55+ and new to Canada who wants to improve your English conversation skills in a friendly and supportive environment?

Join our English Conversation Circle for Seniors, where you’ll build your speaking confidence, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful conversations. It’s a great way to practice English, make new friends, and have fun while learning together.

Line Dancing

Join us for Line Dancing, a lively and engaging program where you'll learn simple, choreographed routines to music, no partner (or experience) needed! Each week, you'll practice a series of fun dances made up of easy-to-follow, repeating steps.

Led by enthusiastic peer volunteers, this class is a great way to stay active, boost your mood, and connect with others in a welcoming, low-pressure setting.

Mount Pleasant Men's Shed

Come join our new in-person men’s group, open to all those who self-identify as men. We meet on a regular basis to sustain bonds between group members and work toward developing the group’s projects, which include establishing a speaker’s café series and a Men’s Shed in central Vancouver.

If you are open to new ideas and conversations, interested in crafting, or want to meet a lively bunch of men, this group may be for you!

Seniors Lunch and Bingo

Join us every Tuesday at noon for our Seniors Lunch, where you can enjoy a warm, delicious meal and connect with neighbours in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

After lunch, stick around for a friendly game of bingo, a fun way to unwind and share a few laughs!

Have questions about your computer, tablet, smartphone, or the internet? Bring them to Tech Café! Our friendly and patient volunteers are here to help you troubleshoot problems, learn new skills, and stay safe online.

Whether you’re a beginner or just need a bit of guidance, drop in for personalized support in a welcoming environment. Call or email for specific language support requests.

Our Better At Home Services

Better At Home - Friendly Phone Call

A friendly voice, just a phone call away! Our weekly social phone calls for older adults (65+) living in the Mount Pleasant catchment area. This service is designed to reduce isolation and build connection—one conversation at a time.

Participants are matched with a trusted volunteer who will call at a regular, pre-arranged time during Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House’s office hours (09:00 AM - 05:00 PM). Whether it's a quick check-in or a longer chat, these calls are a great way to brighten your week and stay connected to your community.

Better At Home - Light Housekeeping

We offer light housekeeping services for older adults aged 65+ living within the Mount Pleasant catchment area. This service helps support seniors to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment, while continuing to live independently.

While the program is currently at capacity, we are actively accepting applications for our waitlist. Subsidized hourly rates are determined based on your income, using the previous year’s Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Better At Home - Meal Delivery

We are offering a weekly delivery of healthy frozen meals right to the doorsteps of older adults (65+) living in the Mount Pleasant catchment area.

Meals are designed to support well-being and independence, with a sliding scale cost between $5 and $11 per meal, based on income. A limited number of subsidies are available, with rates determined using your previous year’s Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
