A Letter from our Community Board and Executive Director

Dear Neighbours,

As we reflect on the past year, we are proud of and grateful for the remarkable work of staff and volunteers at MPNH. This year has been one of transformation and growth, marked by achievements that highlight our commitment to our mission and vision. Our team has worked tirelessly to navigate the challenges and to seize the opportunities that have come our way through collaboration, dedication, laughter, and compassion. Our success is a testament to the hard work of our staff and volunteers as well as the support of our partners and funders.

Amidst this reflection, it is with gratitude that we say goodbye to two members of our board, Anthony Kupferschmidt and Mario Ariza. Anthony and Mario have been invaluable assets to our organization, providing support and guidance, and dedicating their time and talents to the work of MPNH. Their commitment to our mission has not gone unnoticed. While we are saddened to see them step down, we are deeply grateful for their service and the positive impact they have made during their tenures.

A key theme that continues to emerge through our work is the profound importance of connection and belonging. They are at the heart of what we do every day, driving collaboration, fostering creativity, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. In a world that is increasingly complex, nurturing these principles has become even more crucial.

We have seen how our teams have tackled challenges with resilience and creativity, and how their collective knowledge and diverse perspectives have strengthened our work. When staff, volunteers, and community members feel they belong, they are more engaged, motivated, and committed. As an organization, we continue to work towards creating a more inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard, respected, and celebrated.

As we move forward, we remain committed to strengthening these values. Together, we can continue to build a vibrant and dynamic community in Mount Pleasant, fostering spaces in which each person can thrive and where our collective potential is fully realized.

Sincerely,

Devika Ramkhelawan (MPNH Executive Director)
