Digital Literacy
Learn Digital Skills and Internet Safety
We offer a variety of digital literacy programming for seniors (55+), new arrivals (refugees, international students,) people with Permanent Residency status, and naturalized citizens. Anyone in these designations is welcome to attend our programs, but if you are unsure if you are eligible or have any questions about Digital Literacy program, please contact Micah at mpryne@mpnh.org or 236-756-0015.
Programs Offered
One-on-one support
For one hour a week up to six weeks, participants are matched with a volunteer who tutors them on the topic or device of the participant’s choice. Currently we see demands in Microsoft Office for newcomers (Word and Excel in particular) and smartphone basics for seniors (as is the case with your mother.) Please note, that we currently do have a wait list of one to two months for this program.
If you are interested in enrolling on the wait list then please fill out the form here. You may also email mpryne@mpnh.org to request enrolment, or call 236-756-0015. Participants may do another round within the same year, with priority given to new participants.
Tech cafe
Drop-in sessions where our MPNH staff and volunteers provide personalized assistance with technology-related queries. We can answer specific questions and, if time allows, teach the basics of operating personal devices and safe practices with technology and data. These cafes currently take place from 11:30-1:30 on Wednesdays and 10:30-12:30 on Thursdays at MPNH.
Workshops
We offer a variety of digital literacy workshops at the Neighbourhood House and in collaboration with other organizations. To see our current offerings, see our events calendar.
